Last month I was fortunate enough to spend a whole two weeks travelling around my favourite country in the entire world: ITALY.
Like many others, I adore travelling, but for me its always been more than just seeing a new place and taking cheesy pictures at endless monuments. For me, the heart of a country is in its food, and what better way to learn the cuisine of a country than through its people.
Im not entirely sure, where my love for Italy came from, but for as long as I can remember I have been head over heels for this beautiful country and its people. I believe my obsession started when I met a wonderful Italian woman and her daughter upon moving to South Africa at the age of seven. The two of them would come over to our house for family dinners and I remember sitting for hours, compltely enthralled, listening to the mother telling stories of her mischevious childhood and her movie-like adventures in Italy. They became and still are to this day, like family, and I think somehow in my adoration for them and through the incredible stories, somehow I got slightly confused and became half Italian. (well, atleast at heart)
Growing up, I have lived in many countries, from Nigeria, to England, to South Africa to Scotland, but all through this I have never felt more at home than I do in Italy. It goes without saying that I adore this beautiful, culturally rich, historic country with all my heart and after years of obsessing and intense research, I finally feel like im ready to share….
I hope you enjoy.
